Johnson joined the Heliconia Foundation in 2015 and was appointed Vice President of Projects and Events in November 2017. Mr. Smith has been described as "one of the members of Heliconia dedicated to progressing philanthropy". He continues to promote the ideals and principles of the Foundation and treating with the issues of young professionals within Trinidad and Tobago.
Johnson holds a B.Sc. (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering and has over 12 years experience in both the offshore (oil and gas sector) and onshore (public and private sectors) construction industries. He has worked in Quantity Surveying, Engineering and Construction Management positions. Johnson is currently employed at a special purpose state enterprise that provides professional consulting engineering and project management services and functions in the capacity of Project Manager on Historical Building Restorations.
Johnson emphasizes the importance of giving back to the community and is committed to the furtherance of community development by promoting the Foundation's three pillars of Politics, Policy and Philanthropy.He is a recreational sportsman and an avid hiker with a love for the environment, participating in numerous nature trail hikes and clean up exercises.
