Heliconia is launching a Book Club, bringing passionate readers together to discuss provocative themes. The club’s first selection is The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli. This handbook for statesmen and gangsters alike was written nearly 500 years ago, but even today continues to fascinate and stir controversy. In The Prince, Machiavelli deals with the rise and fall of states, and the measures that a leader can take to ensure the states’ continued existence.
We will be meeting in September at a location that serves libations. Over wine, puncheon or something in between, we will discuss the themes in the book. Message Nneka Matthews (729-1683) to join.
